(This map is pretty big. Open it on another tab.)
The World Map, Year 353 CE. Present day. Due to the overflow of monsters from the Fomorian dungeons, many settlements no longer exist, and areas outside of the main cities are unwelcoming to travelers, at best.
Welcome to Roan.
The year is 353 of the Current Era of Light, and life prospered in Stucia until recent. The honorable Duke Carmick of Stucia has passed away in a roadside ambush by bandits. The Duchess holds the title of heir but true power lies with the Counts and their men at arms, who have largely relied on guidance from the surrounding kingdoms. To the south, the Holy Kingdom of Pencast, and the north the Lusamil Kingship. Both have vied for influence and power over the lands of Stucia until the lands turned sour.
Oracles speak of a darkness that will re-emerge to destroy our world as they had tried a thousand years ago. The dreaded Fomorians that would bring death and destruction to the land and drag everyone down to the hellish realm they came from. Foretold as in the ancient writings of the long forgotten kingdoms that dot the landscapes. The neighboring kingdoms and other continents have been ravaged by war and their own threats of danger. The birthplace of most of the other races is being ravaged by rampaging dragons, the continent of Tao has fallen entirely to an accursed tide of undead and plague. Even the kingdom of Durtheim, directly next to Stucia, has fallen to the overflow of creatures from broken dungeons, who spill out and swam the countryside. Refugees are flooding Stucia for safety.
Stucia has fallen on bad times, more monsters than usual are harassing the lands and strange noises emanate from the woods. With the onset of an invasion, the high king of Lusamil has failed to respond, and the lords beneath him have released funds to prevent the undead to the north from entering the lands. The Archbishop of Pencast has ordered his troops to assist Stucia by clearing out swaths of creatures approaching from their borders and keep the waves of Fomorians from overwhelming Pencast with camps close to the southern border of Stucia under the same reasoning of subjugating Fomorians.
Despite all that has happened in Stucia, the population of mercenaries and adventurers has boomed. Many flock to Stucia in search of fame and fortune, or safety from all across Roan, and many more are born in the lands close by. You are one such individual, whether you plan to settle into life as a commoner, or seek glory and riches as an adventurer.
