"Let them say what they wish. When those darkened creatures of the other world attack once again, when their fangs are bearing down to sink into the flesh of their fellow man, they will crawl to us here, clutching their wounds and tears in their eyes to find someone to save them. Prepare yourselves for that day, and be ready to heed my call."

Biography
When the war against the giants seemed the most dire, the elves of the desert searched for strength to assist them in any way possible for survival. In some cases this meant drastic measures, and often elves turned to dark sources of power to give them that strength needed to force back the onslaught of almost suicidal giants. In some cases, however, it was elves who created these dark powers and committed atrocities in order to survive ever much longer from possible extinction. Beastkin are one such instance of so. Long ago, those same early elves attempted to turn the forces of nature against the giants, taking the strengths of the wildlife around them, much like the Fomorians did by controlling animals - through experimentation, arcane and alchemical, Beastkin were born. The goal was to create powerful beings who could stand against the giants and dwarves, but unsurprisingly, the results of such experimentation resulted in disaster - Beastkin were used as the frontlines for the elves for years until they stood against those who were controlling them. Not all Beastkin were capable of fighting, and failed experiments were treated as such. This did not last. The ruling dynasty of the time recognized the Beastkin and granted them status - a better life as citizens, and elevated their station from war fodder.
Over the years, Beastkin have turned into a prideful part of the Irinid society, though they are not elves themselves, they are treated with respect just the same, and have risen to ranks all the way up to even being part of the Sun King's council.
Outside of Irinid, Beastkin are most densely populated in their own villages or tribes that often exist outside of established kingdoms, or live along with elves within elven cities. Although it is part of Beastkin culture to offer considerate hospitality to strangers and travelers alike, most tribes and towns do not tend to keep company of the other races for long. Because of this, it is unusual to see a Beastkin travel in groups outside of their own kin.
Distinctively, the main trait that set the Beastkin apart from the rest of the races are their natural quick wits, and cunningness. Outside of Irinid, most Beastkin tend to take up the blade as mercenaries or thieves, and both end up holding a strong reputation throughout Aliud due to the tough bargains they often run, and the success they commonly achieve while thieving.
Physiology
Beastkin, as the name implies, are a hybrid of human and beast, created through arcane means centuries before present day. Due to this fusion of creatures, and the strange nature of Beastkins' creation, there is a wild range of what Beastkin can appear as. They can resemble humans perfectly with only small animalistic features such as ears and a tail at least, to part, if not the entirety of their body resembling an animal. Their human resemblance does not appear to have a single type of human either - there are Beastkin who have features similar to those of humans from Tao, and Beastkin who have features more like those from Aliud. These vary, however, from any type of animal, as these early experiments resulted in tests of all kinds. There are even new mutations within Beastkin that differ from one another, such as ones for adapting to different regions. The most predominant of these βanimalistic featuresβ are of canine and feline features, whether it is in the form of ears, eyes, teeth, claws, or even the addition of tails or fur.
Beastkin age very similarly to humans.
Displacement
The Beastkin are commonly displaced around the world, but are most numerous on the continent of Ferran, largely due to the more welcoming nature of the Elves. However, it is not uncommon to find them in inns, taverns, and markets when living in cities. Due to their frequent persecution, Beastkin stick to the more equal kingdoms in Aliud, but even so it is not as common to find Beastkin in these areas as it is elsewhere.
