"I have witnessed generations of our bravest and our strongest head to battle. Over the hundred years I have had the throne, I have watched our best leave the gates and I have watched when half as many return. The Elves say they are willing to come to peace, but they make no effort to make it. They will turn their arrows and their staves toward us if we show goodwill, and when they do, we will bring our piercing, icebound fury to the very heart of the elves."

Biography
In the early years, the lands of Besniwe were plentiful and beautiful. Though it always was a tad chilly, the lands were green, the trees bore fruit and there was peace. But as the legends go, when Irian left the land, Besniwe was frozen almost overnight. The crops withered from the frigid cold, and the rivers froze. The lands that were once plentiful, became a frosted wasteland - and the Giants survived regardless. The Elves did not suffer so much - they could still grow their crops with some difficulty, they still had mana on their side and yet when the Giants needed help, they never came. It was certain that the elves had angered Irian and forced him to leave Roan, and for that, the giants would never forget.
Centuries have passed, and the tales of Irian and the myths of the Elves betraying him have long faded into obscurity, only the scars of battle and the losses of loved ones on either side fuel the war that has extended generations. The Giants continue to protect what they have, but they are the last ones who wish to end the war. Despite the humans attempting to broker peace, and the elves tiring of war, the giants contend with one another on whether or not to enter a ceasefire that most giants claim will be broken by the elves regardless.

Physiology & Sociology
The Giants are a race of massive humanoids. Great in stature, even in the early teenage years giants stand at a height of a fully grown human adult. They have a large, powerful appearance and typically have the muscles and mass to back them up. Despite the freakishly large height and muscle mass, there are no other differences from a giant to that of a human being.
Through appearance alone, giants have few particularly distinct features from that of muscular humans, both male and female, barring their size and body frames. Giants typically reach the maximum height of 12ft (3.6 meters) tall. Despite their height, giants do not have a massive speed advantage, although they often run a degree faster than humans due to the longer reach of their giant legs. What giants are most known for barring their size is their strength - Giants typically have a somewhat wider body frame, and their bodies tend to have a a fast metabolism, meaning their muscles often build up quickly. There are virtually no immensely overweight Giants due to this fact. Giants do, also, however, have an extremely restrictive mana pool. This lack in an inmate connection to the arcane also means that there are no giant mages - though to a degree magic is utilized here and there in some of their technologies, it is largely dwarven gifts that the giants utilize in their cities.
Due to their great strength, giants are much better at melee combat than anything else - their size and durability allows them to withstand much more than most, making them extremely powerful in battle, and giants relish in this fact. However they have a significant lack in magical ability and generally lack ranged skills as well, especially since they are the only civilization that does not utilize bows for hunting. For this reason, despite the giants' power in close combat, their rivals have often used ranged attacks to otherwise overwhelm them from afar.
Displacement
Giants hail from the rigid lands around the city of Vales. Though they call the region Besniwe, the mountain ranges around Vales keeps their home secluded, but the size of the city is a testiment to how much the Giants take pride in their home. Their home town of Vales is gargantuan, and though Giants alone are not particularly creative, their symbiotic relationship with dwarves has made Vales one of the largest and advanced cities in the world. Giants rarely leave the region of Besniwe, and the number of those who do are typically fighters and mercenaries who trade their raw physical power for coin. Though many races stick to their own, giants do so more than most others, namely due to their adaptation to the cold - the majority of giants prefer these climates, and thus find it easier to remain at home.
